I have gotten to chapter five and things are still pretty down. the main character fights in a battle royal to get acceptance letters to an all black collage. At first I thought that was kind of nice that the government made collages just for African Americans but…
All black collages where established before the civil rites act in 1964 to keep African Americans from going to all white collages. so that’s less good then I thought but the main character saw this as an amazing opportunity to learn amazing things. his optimism is a stark contrast to the flash forward in the beginning when he was hating life. I’m wondering what happens to him to create that change. only one way to find out, back to reading till next time
